After getting a job at JACK Casino in downtown Cleveland, then landing some tasty freelance opportunities, I felt compelled to make a few trips while I could. So I scheduled this trip to Louisville. Or as they pronounce it in Louisville, "Luavl." Took a 230am Greyhound direct and was placed in the very back in a seat by myself. It was so (comparatively) luxurious that I might pay the upcharge to choose my own seat again next time I'm on a Greyhound.
I had nabbed photos at Brandeis's and McKinley's graves and took a minute to figure the rest of the evening out at Goodfellas Pizzeria on Baxter, across the street from Cave Hill Cemetery. I called over to the Catholic church in New Albany IN to see what time the cemetery closed. Found out it was never, so I hired an Über. Real character by the way. I told him I'd just had some Kentucky bourbon - he said "good thing. You try to leave without having any, they detain you at the border."
Über got me there right before sunset.
One thing I need to do in the future is check the physical orientation of the gravestones before I actually go visit. I would have had incredible shots of Brandeis's and Minton's graves if I had done the whole day in reverse order. At Minton's grave, I was shooting pretty much directly into the sun - and the shadows covering Brandeis's gravemarker wouldn't have been there in the evening.
Hoofed it back to the Greyhound station and caught a few Z's while waiting [four hours] for my bus to leave.
